Overview
Overview
This sample study imagines a small café on a street corner, where the owners wanted a room that works for a quick coffee in the morning and a long conversation in the afternoon.

The counter is placed where the queue can form without blocking the door, and staff can see the whole room from the machine.
Seating moves from high stools at the window to softer chairs at the back, so the room offers a different pace in each zone. Warm, low lighting carries the room into the evening.

Challenges and solutions
Working within the brief.
- 01
A small floor area with a high number of covers needed to make the business viable.
Built-in banquettes along the walls free up the centre of the room and seat more people than loose chairs alone.
- 02
Keeping service efficient at peak times.
The bar is planned as a working sequence of order, prepare and collect, with storage placed under the counter at each station.
